{Synopsis} –Six months ago, Director Greene recruited me to the CGE to train to hunt demons.
Four months ago, I agreed to finish my first Phase in less than half the time.
Two months ago, I got bit by a vampire, almost died, and found out I have demon DNA.
Now… Demons aren't the only thing I have to fight.

Because I'm changing, and that changes everything.

{My Thoughts} – This book was absolutely amazing. It picked up right where Breed of Innocence had left off. This book starts at the beginning of phase 2 in the program and Jade appears to be past the worst part of all the issues she had dealt with in phase 1. What I mean by that is that she no longer has to deal with Felecia making her life miserable since she’d managed to get herself kicked out of the program. However, this book leads to new struggles that Jade is forced to endure. The only good thing Jade has going for her is that Linc and Tasha will stand beside her no matter what and stand up for her.

This book begins with Director Green coming back from being gone all summer and he has funding now that will help with research and assist the Prospects in their studies to become better Demon Hunters. The funding Jade finds out is in a huge part due to her and that fact that she’d survived a vampire bite during the end of her first phase.

Jade is an interesting character because she loves to study and can’t seem to get enough of it. Many of the other prospects seem to think that she is special and or a teachers pet but they don’t have all the facts. Since Jade was in a part a bit of the reason that Felecia had been kicked out she seemed to have a target on her back by Felecia old posse. Rachel in particular seemed to have picked up with Felecia had left off and decided since Jade got her friend kicked out that it was her mission to make Jade’s life miserable.

Jade learns a lot about herself, her family, who she can and cannot trust and most importantly about what she wants to gain by leaning from the CGE. This book is a remarkable recollection of her journey through phase two of the program. It made me laugh, it made me smile and tear up in a few places. If you’d like to know what happens to Jade you will need to read the book. I promise you won’t regret it!
